2012 Goals

December 18, 2011

It’s that time of year again. Where everyone gets together and fantasizes about what they will do differently next year. I, along with 95% of the population, am guilty of setting goals that I either forget immediately or never attempt to reach. I’m hoping this year has a different outcome. As I get older I realize how important it is to set realistic: timeframes, goals and expectations. There’s no point in setting a goal so hard to achieve that you’re forever chasing it or never start.

1. Make healthier choices

For starters, I’ve started smoking again, something that nobody likes to shout from the rooftops. This ranges from: drinking less coffee, getting better/quality sleep and of course my food choices. After all, nobody has found the fountain of youth yet.

2. Learn

I would like to be able to set aside an amount of time a week for learning new things or working on side/personal projects. I feel this will not only allow myself to still be creative, but bring new ideas to the office.

3. Engage

When it comes to being engaged in the web community, I am lacking. By this I mean: going to local meet-ups, and having a stronger web presence. Now I think being too engaged can be distracting in ways. So I’d like to find a good medium.

Of course there are some other small goals that I have, but those are more of long term habitual goals. I’ve been thinking of what I truly think is possible, and what would be the most important. Everything can be narrowed down into these 3 categories.

So here’s to 2012.
